WCS and FSSD closed Thursday due to looming weather | Local news


After starting the spring semester on Wednesday, students in Williamson County will be given an immediate day off thanks to Mother Nature.

Schools in Williamson County and the Franklin Special School District announced Wednesday night that they will be closed Thursday due to looming winter weather which is expected to start early in the morning.

The National Weather Service announced a winter weather advisory starting at 4 a.m. for the Middle Tennessee area, including Williamson County.

“We worked with the National Weather Service, Emergency Management and others today to better understand when and how much winter precipitation is expected to move through our area in the early hours of the morning tomorrow,” Carol, Director communications from WCS. Birdsong said in an email to parents. “Our school buses start picking up students around 6 am and make the morning trips around 9 am. school at Williamson County schools on Thursday, January 6, 2022. “

Franklin Special’s MAC program will also be closed on Thursday, along with the district office.

The Williamson County Schools school-age child care program will be closed and 12-month-old employees must follow Snow Day protocol with the understanding that all school campuses and district offices will be closed. Employees who can work remotely can do so with the approval of their supervisor.

A decision regarding school Friday in WCS and FSSD will be made on Thursday afternoon.
