Early Childhood Iowa Seeks Funding Proposals – Newton Daily News

The Iowa Early Childhood Administration Board (ECI) of the Tri-County Collaboration between Jasper, Marion, and Poweshiek Counties (JMP) is now accepting requests for proposals for fiscal year 2023 funding. JMP ECI oversees approximately $750,000 annually allocated by the State of Iowa to serve children under five and their families. The JMP ECI Board of Directors oversees collaborative efforts among Jasper, Marion and Poweshiek counties to provide families with young children with the opportunities, resources and support needed to ensure that all children, from birth, will be healthy and ready to succeed.

JMP ECI is seeking proposals that help meet the priorities of the board, including providing access to quality preventive health services for children, supporting high quality preschool environments, offering supportive family care and high quality parenting education for families at risk and supportive educational environments.

“Early childhood education, whether in the form of high-quality child care, nurturing preschools, or safe and supportive home environments, is so critical to a child’s long-term success. “said JMP Board Chairman Brian Kingrey. JMP ECI funding has funded programs such as home visiting programs to support healthy and nurturing home environments, I-Smile dental screens in preschools, child care nurse counselors to support healthy environments in child care centres, training programs to support our essential child care services. workforce, childcare consultants to support quality home and center-based child care, postpartum home visits for new mothers, pre-school scholarships and variable fee schedules in child care centres.

The board will consider proposals that provide services that improve, expand or innovate early childhood education practices in the tri-county area. The board is particularly interested in proposals that address early childhood mental health, nutrition and literacy, provide parent education, or improve the business practices of child care providers to promote sustainability at long-term programs.

To view guidance for proposals, interested parties may visit www.jmpeci.org or contact JMP ECI Director Amy Blanchard at 641-236-5518 or amy@greaterpcf.org.
