UPDATE 1:55 p.m.

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took a campaign tour of the Okanagan.

Trudeau’s first stop was at a daycare center in Lake Country, where he played and made crafts with students.

He then visited the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative in Kelowna and posed for photos with workers.

Some of the shoppers at a tree fruit shop were caught off guard when they came face to face with the Prime Minister.

The media were not allowed to ask questions during the carefully designed photo ops.

His visit comes just days after Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre also made a private tour of the Okanagan, meeting with MPs and party loyalists.

This is the premier’s first public visit to Kelowna since 2017, when the riding of Kelowna-Lake Country was held by Liberal Stephen Fuhr. He also appeared at BC Day celebrations in Penticton in 2018.

Trudeau has another stop scheduled for this afternoon in the South Okanagan.
