El Paso Children’s Hospital Cancer Center has a new medical director

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – El Paso Children’s Hospital has a new medical director for its pediatric blood and cancer center at Southwest University.

Dr. Michael Rytting is now responsible for overseeing the interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, child specialists and social workers who work together at the centre.

The El Paso Children’s Hospital Blood and Cancer Center also offers an on-site infusion clinic.

Rytting is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist specializing in the treatment of children with various blood diseases and cancers. This includes leukemia, lymphoma as well as other pediatric tumors. Rytting also treats bleeding disorders in children.

Rytting’s career in medicine began in 1990, when he received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor. After medical school, Rytting completed residency training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in Internal Medicine. He was also a professor in the Department of Pediatric Patient Care and Children’s Cancer Hospital at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, Rytting is certified in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSCEP).
